Department of History

About The Department

About
The Department of History was established in 1997.    For its undergraduate programmes, the Department provides a wide selection of demanding and interesting courses. It has consistently advocated for a two-pronged approach to education, offering core courses that span all historical eras to improve students  overall disciplinary skill in Indian history as well as a comprehensive understanding of world history. On the other side, a wide array of intensely focused, theme-oriented courses provides students the freedom to select and follow their own areas of interest in research or specialization.

Goals
Develop critical thinking in the students.
To enrich the students with the knowledge of India’s Past and its Diverse
Culture.
To teach Historiography to the students so that they can develop better
understanding of the subject.
Vision
By putting Indian history in the perspective of global history, the History Department hopes to raise students awareness of the past and its legacy through instruction, research, and extension initiatives. We think that students can only comprehend the present and look towards the future if they have a critical  awareness of the past.
Mission
Make the students into critical thinkers who understand the past and how it
affects the present. Encourage the study of India   history, society, and culture
in general, and History of Madhya Pradesh in particular. Give students a
lifelong love of learning about the past to help them overcome the obstacles
posed by globalisation. The ability to connect the dots between local, regional,
national, and global history will provide the kids the confidence they need to
take on difficulties.
