Certificate Course in Organic Farming


 DURATION                            : Three months

OFFERED BY                         : Dept of Graduate & Post Graduate Studies in Botany, Mata Gujri Mahila Mahavidyalaya (Auto), Jabalpur

ELIGIBILITY                           : The course is meant for everyone who is interested in promoting safe food. The course will be especially useful for senior secondary pass outs, rural youth, and prospective organic farmers.

ADMISSION TO THE COURSE   : By first-come first-serve basis. Total number of seats will be 25, which can vary with the approval of the Principal, MGMM, Jabalpur.

TUTION AND OTHER FEES     : Rs 300 (Rs Three Hundred only) per candidate. The fees can be increased as and when required after due consideration and approval. This course will function under the self-finance scheme of the college. No concession will be remitted to any candidate, under any privilege or category.

CANDIDATE PARTICIPATION    : Every candidate will be required to attend 75% of the total number of theory/ lecture/ practical/ demonstration classes delivered.

CONCEPT   : Organic farming is an alternative agricultural system in which  use of naturally occurring substances during farming is encouraged while prohibiting synthetic substances like fertilizers, pesticides. This method originated early in the 20th century after witnessing large environmental hazards taking place due to overuse of chemical products. Organic agricultural methods are now internationally as well as nationally regulated and legally enforced by many nations.It is an integrated farming system that strives for sustainability, the enhancement of soil fertility and biological diversity. The main objective of the programme is to impart knowledge and proficiency in Organic production practices, Certification process and marketing of organically raised agricultural produces, promote self-employment and income generation.

The course helps to carry -out the project required for the partial fulfillment of B.Sc  and M.Sc degree.

A minimum of 30 (21+03) classes is required for completion.  The certificate program length is flexible; however, the certificate must be completed within two years.

The student’s transcript will not indicate that the certificate was earned until the Notification of Completion has been submitted, verified by the certificate program committee and processed by the Registrar.
