DURATION : Three months

OFFERED BY : Dept of Graduate & Post Graduate Studies in Botany, Mata Gujri Mahila Mahavidyalaya (Autonomous), Jabalpur

ELIGIBILITY : The course is meant for everyone who is interested in promoting safe food. The course will be especially useful for senior secondary pass outs, rural youth, and prospective organic farmers.

ADMISSION TO THE COURSE : By first-come first-serve basis. Total number of seats may vary with the approval of the Principal, MGMM, Jabalpur.

TUTION AND OTHER FEES : Rs 500 (Rs Five Hundred only) per candidate. The fees can be increased as and when required after due consideration and approval by the Principal MGMM, Jabalpur. This course will function under the self-finance scheme of the college. No concession will be remitted to any candidate, under any privilege or category.

CANDIDATE PARTICIPATION : Every candidate will be required to attend the theory/ lecture/ practical/ demonstration classes delivered by experts/faculty members.

CONCEPT : Organic farming is an effective agricultural system in which use of naturally occurring substances during farming is encouraged while prohibiting synthetic substances like fertilizers, pesticides. Since ancient times these methods were practiced in India but due need of providing food to increasing population chemicals were used for more production purpose which led to contamination of our environment.

This concept originated early in the 20th century after witnessing large environmental hazards taking place due to overuse of chemical products. Organic agricultural methods are now internationally as well as nationally regulated and legally enforced by many environment concerned nations. It is an integrated farming system that strives for sustainability of agricultural resources, helps in the enhancement of soil fertility and biological soil diversity.

The main objective of the course is to impart knowledge and proficiency in Organic farming & production practices, certification process and marketing of organically raised agricultural produces, promote self-employment and income generation.
