It is one of the most popular traditional postgraduate level course among the Bio-science students in which a complete idea about the entire plant kingdom and various important process related with it such as plant physiology, growth, plant types along with some recent applied topics related to genetics, biotechnology, cell biology, microbiology are taught. The syllabus also comprises of topics related with environment conservation and importance of herbal plants and their use in traditional medicinal systems in the paper of Ethno botany, as its importance is well proved worldwide during this Covid -19 pandemic.
               There are a number of jobs and career opportunities both in public and private sector after completing this course such as public health service, national park services, department of agriculture, forest service, departments of conservation and land management, Herbal medicinal companies, weed scientists, Plant scientists, food/seed companies, fruit growers, and biotechnology firms. The post graduates can pursue further studies by enrolling themselves in Ph.D. programme.

It is an interdisciplinary and applied subject where latest technology is taught for the advancement and betterment of mankind. And what better a time than now to study Biotechnology where even a non-science background student knows the importance of RT-PCR technology during this Covid-19 pandemic.
               A student studies basic courses like Cell Biology, Microbial Physiology, Biomolecules, Macromolecules and Enzymology, Immunology: along with interdisciplinary courses like Biostatistics and finally the applied aspects in courses like Animal cell Science and Techniques, Molecular Biology, Genetic Engineering, Environmental Biotechnology, Plant Biotechnology and Bioprocess Technology. This course provides students the adequate knowledge of animal kingdom their evolution, characteristics and anatomy. Due to current environmental changes there is a serious threat to all the species of animals and therefore the strategies and measures taken for their conservation are taught to the students enrolled in this post graduate course. The specialization papers provided in M.Sc. IV are Wild Life Conservation and Environment and Biodiversity Conservation.
               This knowledge through enriched curriculum and extension activities conducted through Nature Club make students environment & wildlife conscious and also well competent for diverse areas of employment which includes teaching or research in College/Universities, Zoo & National Parks, Food Park, Animal Research Centre, etc.
