Department of Physics is committed to providing an education that combines rigorous academics with joy of discovery. The physics department is committed to impart quality education both in theoretical as well as experimental physics with special emphasis on ‘learning by doing’ for socio-economic growth.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs)

To equip students with knowledge, abilities and insight in Physics and related fields.

To equip them to analyze and communicate physics facts, effectively in inter-disciplinary environment.

To equip the students with the ability to utilize the concepts of Physics such as optics, electricity, Magnetism, Thermodynamics etc and their applications in addressing the practical and heuristic issues.

Programme Specific outcomes 

Students are expected to acquire a core knowledge in physics, including the major premises of classical mechanics, quantum mechanics, electromagnetic theory, electronics, optics, special theory of relativity and modern physics. 

Students are also expected to develop a written and oral communication skills in communicating physics-related topics. 

Students should learn how to design and conduct an experiment (or series of experiments) demonstrating their understanding of the scientific method and processes. Not only that they are expected to have an understanding of the analytical methods required to interpret and analyze results and draw conclusions as supported by their data. 

Students will develop the proficiency in the acquisition of data using a variety of laboratory instruments and in the analysis and interpretation of such data. 

Students will learn the applications of numerical techniques for modeling physical systems for which analytical methods are inappropriate or of limited utility. 

Students will realize and develop an understanding of the impact of physics and science on society. 

Apply conceptual understanding of the physics to general real-world situations. 

Describe the methodology of science and the relationship between observation and theory. 

Learn to minimize contributing variables and recognize the limitations of equipment. 

Discover of physics concepts in other disciplines such as mathematics, computer science, engineering, and chemistry. 

Develop the following experimental tools: Numerically model simple physical systems using Euler's method, curve fitting, and error analysis. 

Analyze physical problems and develop correct solutions using natural laws.

Programme outcomes

1. Read, understand and interpret physical information – verbal, mathematical and graphical.

3. To give need based education in physics of the highest quality at the undergraduate level.

4. Offer courses to the choice of the students.

5. Perform experiments and interpret the results of observation, including making an

B Sc Programme in Physics, anassessment of experimental uncertainties.

6. Provide an intellectually stimulating environment to develop skills and enthusiasms of students to the best of their potential.

7. Use Information Communication Technology to gather knowledge at will.

8. Attract outstanding students from all backgrounds.

Objectives: 

The syllabi are framed in such a way that it bridges the gap between the plus two and post graduate levels of Physics by providing a more complete and logical framework in almost all areas of basic Physics.

By the end of the first year, the students should have attained a common level in basic mechanics, a secure foundation in mathematics, Chemistry (otherwise specified), Languages and other relevant subjects to complement the core for their future courses and developed their experimental and data analysis skills through experiments at laboratories. 

By the end of the second year, the students should have been introduced to powerful tools for tackling a wide range of topics in Optics, Laser, Fiber optics, semiconductor devices and circuits. Along with Languages, they should have been familiar with additional relevant techniques in mathematics, Chemistry or Electronics/Computer application and developed their experimental and data analysis skills through a wide range of experiments through practical at laboratories.

By the end of the third year, the students should have developed their understanding of core Physics by covering a range of topics in almost all areas of physics including Classical and Quantum Mechanics, Electricity and Electrodynamics,

Relativity and spectroscopy, Thermal and Statistical Physics, Nuclear and Particle physics, Solid State Physics, Digital Electronics etc. along with one choice based courses, Open course and had experience of independent work such as projects; seminars etc. and thereby developing their experimental skills through a series of experiments which also illustrate major themes of the lecture courses.

Students graduating with a B.Sc. in Physics should be able to:

Students will demonstrate proficiency in mathematics and the mathematical concepts needed for a proper understanding of physics.           

Students will demonstrate knowledge of classical mechanics, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, and thermal physics, and be able to apply this knowledge to analyze a variety of physical phenomena. 

Students will show that they have learned laboratory skills, enabling them to take measurements in a physics laboratory and analyze the measurements to draw valid conclusions.            

Students will be capable of oral and written scientific communication, and will prove that they can think critically and work independently. 

          Course Outcomes 

ELECTRONICS

We are living in a wonder world of Electronics. The knowledge of   basic principles and applications of Electronics is most necessary for a physics student. Students will get the ability to identify almost all electronic components and their working principles. Practical in this course will definitely enable the students to service or repair basic electronic equipments like radio, television, electronic chokes, lamps etc. This course is intended to provide theoretical and practical knowledge about electronics.

ELECTRICITY AND ELECTRODYNAMICS

Electricity and Electrodynamics have the key role in the development of modern technological world. Without electric power and communication facilities, life on earth stands still. A course in electricity and electrodynamics is thus an essential component of physics programme at graduate level. This course is expected to provide a sound foundation in Electricity and Electrodynamics.

Students should familiarise with electrical circuits, electrical connections, and storage devices their working etc. which will be quite useful in their daily life. Theoretical and practical knowledge about signal generating circuits enable the students to identify different communication techniques which will be useful in their daily life and higher studies

CLASSICAL AND QUANTUM MECHANICS

This course is a prelude to advanced theoretical studies in Condensed Matter Physics, Spectroscopy, Astrophysics Electrodynamics and nuclear physics. It is conceptually rich and technically difficult. Special techniques are developed for attacking more realistic problems.

NUCLEAR AND PARTICLE PHYSICS

This course intended to explore the interior of nucleus and interaction between nucleons. Students will get good theoretical basis of nuclear fission, which is the basis of atom bomb and nuclear fusion, basis of hydrogen bomb and energy production in stars. Students also familiarise with fundamental particles of nature and how these particles are interacting with each other and matter.

RELATIVITY AND SPECTROSCOPY

This course is intended to introduce principles of spectroscopy and special theory of relativity. Spectroscopic studies were central to the development of Quantum mechanics and study of atoms and molecules. Theory of relativity provides intellectual food for students interested in theoretical studies.                                         

THERMAL AND STATISTICAL PHYSICS

This course is to develop a working knowledge of Thermal and statistical mechanics and to use this knowledge to explore various applications related to topics in material science and the physics of condensed matter.

MECHANICS AND PROPERTIES OF MATTER

This course would empower the student to acquire engineering skills and practical knowledge, which help the students in their everyday life. The properties of solids especially knowledge of elasticity help the students to identify the materials suitable for the construction of buildings, houses etc. Properties of fluids especially knowledge of viscosity and surface tension help the students in their daily life and agriculture. This syllabus will cater the basic requirements for their higher studies. This course will provide a theoretical basis for doing experiments in related areas.

PHYSICAL OPTICS AND PHOTONICS

This course aims to provide necessary foundation in optics and photonics which prepare the students for an intensive study of advanced topics at a later stage. Covering the very important and fascinating areas of interference diffraction and polarization with many experiments associated with 

                                 Mathematical Physics, 

The purpose of the course is to introduce students to methods of mathematical physics and to develop required mathematical skills to solve problems in quantum mechanics, electrodynamics and other fields of theoretical physics. Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to understand basic theory of:∙Vector and tensor analysis∙Functions of complex variables∙Elements of distribution theory∙Fourier Series

  Solid State Physics

After successful completion of the course, the student is expected to: Have a clear picture of crystal structures and a clear understanding about x-ray diffraction: Expected to gain knowledge of superconductivity,,its underlying principles and its applications in modern world :Become familiar with molecular spectroscopy and have gained basic ideas regarding microwave spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy and Raman Spectroscopy. : Have gained basic knowledge of laser and working of different type of lasers

ऊर्जा संरक्षण एवं ऊर्जा  साक्षरता अभियान 06/09/2022

ऊर्जा संरक्षण एवं ऊर्जा  साक्षरता अभियान के तहत एक दिवसीय कार्यशाला  का आयोजन भौतिकी एवं इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स विभाग माता गुजरी महिला महाविद्यालय ( स्वशासी ) जबलपुर (म, प्र.) आज दिनांक 06/09/2022 को किया गया। सभी छात्राओं एवं सभी विभागों के प्रमुख , कार्यालय के कर्मचारियों  द्वारा ऊर्जा संरक्षण की शपथ गृहण की ।सभी को अपने कार्यालय एवं घरों  में कम से कम बिजली का उपयोग करने की सलाह दी गई एवं  कार्यालय में कम से कम बिजली उपकरणों के प्रयोग  की सलाह दी गई ।छात्राओं का USHA app.मे रजिस्टेशन एवं प्रमाणीकरण किया गया I इस कार्य में मध्य प्रदेश ऊर्जा विकास निगम के श्री जावेद , प्राचार्य डॉ.एस.झांब, नोडल अधिकारी डॉ. प्रीति पाठक ,डॉ मोनिका धगत, डॉ.रानू सिंह, , डॉ. रमनीक कौर, डॉ. कविता गौर, यशमीत कौर, लक्ष्मी शुक्ला, श्रीमती सीमा वर्मा ,श्रीमती बबीता तिवारी का सहयोग रहा I इस कार्यशाला में लगभग 50 प्रतिभागियों ने भाग लिया I

 मध्य प्रदेश सरकार के सेवा पखवाडा कार्यक्रम के अंतर्गत आज 23/9/2022"ऊर्जा साक्षरता दिवस " है ।माता गुजरी महिला महाविद्यालय स्वायत्तशासी जबलपुर म.प्र.द्वारा छात्राओं एवं सभी विभागों के प्रमुख , कार्यालय में सभी ने उक्त  शपथ गृहण की।सभी को अपने कार्यालय एवं घरों में कम से कम बिजली का उपयोग करने की सलाह दी गई एवं आज संभवतः कार्यालय में एक घंटे बिजली उपकरणों को बंद रखने की सलाह दी गई ।छात्राओं का USHA app.मे रजिस्टेशन एवं प्रमाणीकरण किया गया ।इस कार्य में प्राचार्य डॉ.एस.झांब, नोडल अधिकारी डॉ. प्रीति पाठक डॉ.रानू सिंह, डॉ. पुष्पा रमेश, डॉ. माया शुक्ला, डॉ. रमनीक कौर, डॉ. कविता गौर, यशमीत कौर, लक्ष्मी शुक्ला, श्रीमती सीमा वर्मा का सहयोग रहा I इस कार्यशाला में लगभग 300 प्रतिभागियों ने भाग लिया I

 Garba celebration-30/09/2022

 Every year department of Physics and Electronics Jointly celebrated Garba performance along with the college .This year Garba performance conducted jointly by the Department of Physics and Electronics on the occasion of Navratri 2023 celebration. More than 100 interdepartmental teams (1000 students) participated in this event. They all enjoy this event .

1.  Industrial visit 28/11/2022 For B.Sc IInd Year

Report of the Industrial visit

The 06 students of B.SC IInd  Year and all the faculty members of Department of Physics And Electronics visited Batalia Eye Hospital   on 28/11/2022.All of the members of the visit understand the working of eye lances basic concept of optometry. The members of the Department of Batalia Eye Hospital and Eye specialist nicely explain about the basic concept of optometry and Eye lances. All students enjoying the visit of BanFranklin brand of lances. 

Industrial visit (30/11/2022)For B.Sc Ist year

 

The 03 students of B.SC Ist Year and all the faculty members of Department of Physics And Electronics visited Shri Guru Ramdas Khalsa Institute of Technology Barela  on 30/11/2022.All of the members of the visit understand the working Petrol Engine and Diesel Engine of Thermodynamics. The members of the Department of Engineering explain nicely about the cycle of Engine .All students enjoying the field Trip. 

 

 Organizes one day seminar 25th January 2023

  Department of Physics and Electronics Organizes one day seminar on “Indian Army A way of Life” Colonel Ranjeet Singh Yadav is the key note speaker of the seminar. He gives information on the job placement in the field of Indian army. How to Prepare for NDA Exam and age limit and many more motivational talks for joining Indian army especially for girls candidates. More than 100 students and 10 Faculty members participated in this event.

 Every year department of Physics and Electronics Jointly organizes Science Day on 28th February .This year Treasure hunt conducted jointly by the Department of Physics and Electronics on the occasion of National science day 2023 Celebration. More than 10 interdepartmental teams (100 students ) participated in this event.
