The glorious journey of the Department of Commerce began in 1994 with UG Programme in Commerce (B.Com.).The Department upgraded to a Postgraduate Department of Commerce offering M.Com. in the year 1998. The department entered in management education by starting a UG Program in Management (BBA) in 2002 thus making it a truly interdisciplinary department. In the year 2014 B.Com. Hon’s Course started in the department. To reflect this diversity in the courses offered by the department, the name of the department was changed as Department of Commerce and Management. More than 80% of the faculty members of the department hold Doctoral Degrees and have an experience of more than 15 years.

It fosters innovation and entrepreneurial spirit, equipping them with skills for success in a competitive market. Through hands-on experiences and real-world projects, students learn to identify opportunities, develop business plans, and implement strategies. The goal is to cultivate the next generation of leaders and innovators.

We integrate curricular and co-curricular aspects to prepare students for national and global developments. We encourage critical thinking, enabling students to transform innovative ideas into commercial outputs, and make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.
Programme
The department offers a variety of programs to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed for success in the modern business landscape. Postgraduates can take a comprehensive two-year Masters of Commerce program, while undergraduates can pursue a three-year Bachelors of Commerce degree with specializations in Plain Commerce, Computer Application, Tax Procedure, and Office Management, or a rigorous three-year Bachelors in Business Administration degree.
