Programme
The Microbiology department offers both undergraduate (BSc) and postgraduate (MSc) programs. The BSc program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of microbiological principles such as morphology, physiology, genetics, and specialized topics including medical microbiology, industrial applications, and environmental roles. The MSc program delves deeper into advanced techniques like cutting-edge lab methods and bioinformatics, along with specialized studies in immunology, pathogenesis, ecology, and applied microbiology.

ACTIVITY 1
Meri Sarkar, Mera Rojgar, Mera Swarojgar
The program was conducted in Sanskriti Theater Jabalpur on 31st July 2023 at 1:00 pm. The programme was organized under the guidance of MLA Ashok Ishvardas Rohani ji.with the support of Shree Sudarshan Foundation, Jabalpur smart city, M.P. Government, Jabalpur incubation center and Sustainable Government Goals.
This program was organized to encourage new innovative ideas in students and to raise the government policies related to employment. In this program different government policies were explained by 15 representatives of different government departments. Participation certificate was also distributed to all students present.The successful journey of startup and entrepreneurship was also shared by some entrepreneurs.
In this programme member of Entrepreneurship development cell Mata Gujri Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Jabalpur Dr. Meeta Shrivastava, Member of Gujri Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Jabalpur cell Dr. Shyamji Shukla and Dr. Mitali Das Innovation Activity Coordinator, Institution's Innovation Council Mata Gujri Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Jabalpur were present.
ACTIVITY 2
Visit to BioDesign Innovation Centre (DIC) Vigyan Bhawan, Rani Durgavati University Jabalpur(M.P.).
Department of Biotechnology, Microbiology and Institution's Innovation Council, Mata Gujri Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Jabalpur Madhya Pradesh organized a visit to Bio-Design Innovation Centre (DIC) Vigyan Bhawan, Rani Durgavati University Jabalpur(M.P.) on 23rd August 2023.
The visit was organized for UG and PG students of Department of Biotechnology & Microbiology to enhance knowledge in Bioinstrumentation at DIC. The students were provided information about Analytical lab of DIC and guided for the Principle and working procedure of the following instrument:
Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy,
Gas chromatography mass spectroscopy,
Gel DOC,
RT PCR,
BOD incubator,
ELISA and Soxhlet apparatus
They were also guided for different areas of Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Startup ecosystem. Total 10 students and 2 faculty members visited DIC. During the visit, the working procedure and facilities provided by the ATAL Community and Rani Durgavati University incubation centre were explained by Mr. Abhijeet Garg and Professor Sardul Singh Sandhu Director, Design Innovation Center and Professor in The Department of Biological Science, R. D. University.
The visit was successfully organized by Dr. Mitali Das (Innovation Activity Coordinator, Institution's Innovation Council Mata Gujri Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Jabalpur), Miss. INTERNATIONAL MICROORGANISM DAY CELEBRATION
Department of microbiology celebrated international microorganism day on 22nd September 2023 and students participated in the competition of Rangoli , Posters, Debates, Boons and Curse. The objective of the event is to share knowledge about microorganisms and their impact on living and nonliving systems through various competitions. Total 74 life science students participated in this event. The event comprises five competitions: Rangoli competitions, Cartoon competitions, Poster competitions, popular talk and debate competitions. On the world Microorganism day lecture was delivered by Dr. Mitali Das Head of the Department of Microbiology, Mata gujri mahila mahavidyalaya (Auto.) Jabalpur.M.P. and Dr. Shyamji Shukla Head of the Department of Biotechnology, Mata gujri mahila mahavidyalaya (Auto.) Jabalpur.M.P. on the topic of Mycology
ACTIVITY 4
INTERNATIONAL HEART DAY CELEBRATION
The Department of microbiology celebrated ‘International heart day’ on 23rd September 2023. In collaboration with Dr. Kaveri Shaw Patel, The students of the Department participated in Essay and Poster competition and won awards .
The aim of the programme was to make people aware about the healthy heart.
ACTIVITY 5
Workshop: on Entrepreneurship Skill, Attitude and Behavior Development
Department of Biotechnology, Microbiology, Music, Institution's Innovation Council, ED Cell Mata Gujri Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Jabalpur and The Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, Madhya Pradesh organized a two Day workshop in Entrepreneurship Skill, Attitude and Behavior Development Association with Department of Zoology & Biotechnology , Government M.H. College of Home Science & Science for Women, Jabalpur.
The workshop was for UG and PG students of Biotechnology & Microbiology to enhance knowledge in different areas of Entrepreneurship, Critical and creative thinking skills, Practical entrepreneurial skills and knowledge and entrepreneurship in Food processing.
Approximately, 100 candidates participated in the workshop. During the session, a lecture was delivered by Dr. Ajay Tiwari Regional Director, CEDMAP, Jabalpur. They also shared their opinions and views on entrepreneurship and also guided the students on Interpersonal skills, Creative thinking skills and the Practical entrepreneurial skills on food processing & cake baking knowledge also shared by Mrs. Kanika Agrawal.

The training and workshop was for UG and PG students of Biotechnology & Microbiology to enhance knowledge in different areas of chromatography techniques and women entrepreneurship in life science.
Approximately 60 candidates participated in Training program and workshop. The training was conducted by Dr Manish K Agrawal ( MD) & Dr Monika Agrawal (Director), Excellent Bioresearch Pvt Ltd Jabalpur.
