Department of Physics is committed to providing an education that combines rigorous academics with joy of discovery. The Institute encourages its community to engage in a dialogue with society to be able to effectively contribute for the betterment of humankind. The physics department is committed to impart quality education both in theoretical as well as experimental physics with special emphasis on ‘learning by doing’ for socio-economic growth.
To contribute effectively to the national Endeavour of producing quality human resource of world class standard by developing a sustainable technical education system to meet the changing technological needs of the Country, incorporating relevant social concerns and to build an environment to create and propagate innovative technologies for the economic development of the Nation.
The syllabi provide a comprehensive framework for basic Physics, bridging the gap between plus two and post graduate levels. Students should have a common level in basic mechanics, a secure foundation in mathematics, Chemistry, and languages, and develop experimental and data analysis skills through lab experiments. By the second year, they should have mastered topics in optics, laser, fiber optics, semiconductor devices, and circuits, and have experience in mathematics, chemistry, and electronics/computer application. By the third year, students should have a comprehensive understanding of core Physics.
A B.Sc. in Physics degree prepares students for jobs in industry, research, teaching, and a host of other professions by giving them a strong foundation in the fundamentals of physics. In addition to this, the department provides a certificate program in cell phone Troubleshooting.
